It was a great day, and I have been in contact with the people I met since we exchanged travel tips. The tour finished at a lively roadside beer garden serving tequila drinks and Mexican dishes. We moved on to an early dinner at Casa Sauza (owner of Hornitos), a delicious central city restaurant. He is very knowledgeable, and everyone found him to be charming. Cava de Oro's YouTube reviews are excellent, and stores lock their products in glass cases. Because of this experience, I bought bottles to take home to Texas. ![]() Before this tour, I knew little about quality sipping tequila. We learned about - and tasted - high-quality tequila at Cava de Oro (at their beautiful hacienda/distillery). I was alone, allowing me to meet three other fun and interesting people. Riding in a deluxe SUV was very comfortable. Getting picked up at my hotel was more convenient than traveling to a train station. They were easy to communicate with by phone and WhatsApp (my reservation change request and lack of Spanish was OK). I read reviews and realized a small semi-private tour (by SUV) would be much better. Initially, I wanted to visit Tequila by train (Jose Cuervo Express).
